It's a bit of a marathon these days. Unica will begin technical rehearsals in Detroit on the 21st. Elizabeth and I tag-teamed today adding depth to the fabric painting (below).

La Bohème is in the final push. All (sixty) first fittings are complete. Rin Schwob, the wig designer, is meeting with each cast member and those that need a second costume fitting see us as well. Just so I have a point of reference, I've been keeping track and I've spent 220 hours working on this show since April...and we are still three weeks away from first dress rehearsal. Though UM is on break Monday & Tuesday, we'll wrap up most of our final fittings this coming week. I have an amazing student assistant named Saawan, and a recent alum, Michaela, who has been engaged as a costumer for the Banda and Children's Choir. It is a terrific team and I really would be drowning without them.

It's a good thing too, because The Grapes of Wrath starts rehearsals on Wednesday! Oh, that show! Our design presentation and first production meeting were Friday. Fortunately, I have been graced with another superlative student assistant, Katy, and we will wrangle all those overalls and dust encrusted '30s garb and start fittings in short order.
